Practical Azure DevOps Fundamentals

Choose appropriate Azure subscription, resource-group, region, and RBAC scopes for a deployment scenario.

Estimate the cost of an Azure lab and configure budget alerts, resource tags, and a cleanup plan before provisioning it.

Authenticate Azure CLI and the Terraform AzureRM provider without embedding credentials in configuration files.

Provision parameterized Azure resources with Terraform using variables, outputs, and dependency references.

Configure Terraform remote state in Azure Storage and safely perform plan, apply, drift inspection, and destroy operations.

Create a private Azure Container Registry and push versioned backend and frontend images to it.

Adapt the FastAPI service for environment-based configuration and implement distinct liveness and readiness endpoints.

Store application secrets in Azure without committing them to Terraform state, container images, or GitHub.

Provision a temporary, budget-conscious Azure Database for PostgreSQL instance with Terraform and prepare the application schema.

Deploy the FastAPI backend from the private registry to Azure Container Apps and connect it securely to PostgreSQL.

Deploy the React frontend to Azure Container Apps and configure browser-safe REST and WebSocket routing to the backend.

Configure Container Apps health probes, release a new revision, validate it, and roll back failed traffic.

Provision a short-lived, cost-controlled AKS cluster with Terraform and authorize it to pull private registry images.

Represent application settings and credentials with Kubernetes ConfigMaps and Secrets without exposing secret values.

Deploy the FastAPI backend to AKS with a Deployment, Service, resource limits, and health probes.

Deploy the React frontend to AKS and expose working REST and WebSocket routes through an ingress controller.

Build, test, and push versioned application images from GitHub Actions using OIDC authentication instead of long-lived Azure credentials.

Automate a validated Azure Container Apps release from GitHub Actions and trigger a rollback when verification fails.

Instrument the FastAPI backend with OpenTelemetry and export request metrics, traces, and failures to Application Insights.

Create and validate an Azure Monitor alert using application telemetry and container-platform signals.
