Welcome to the final lesson of Module 11. In our previous session, we tackled the complex but crucial topic of deferred tax, understanding how to calculate and record deferred tax assets and liabilities. You learned that these adjustments are necessary to bridge the gap between accounting profit and taxable profit, a common challenge at year-end.
Today, we will see exactly where that work fits into the bigger picture. We are going to address the capstone objective of your financial reporting training: to assemble the main components of the final Moroccan tax and accounting package, known as the 'Liasse Fiscale'.
This lesson will bring together many concepts you have learned throughout this course—from basic journal entries to advanced tax calculations—and show how they culminate in the single most important annual submission for any Moroccan company. You will learn to identify the key documents within this package and understand their purpose and interconnectedness.
1. The 'États de Synthèse': The Foundation of the 'Liasse Fiscale'
Before we dive into the full tax package, we must first understand its core: the set of financial statements, known in Morocco as the États de Synthèse. These documents provide a comprehensive view of a company's financial health and performance.
The Moroccan General Code of Accounting Standardization (Code Général de Normalisation Comptable - CGNC) defines the mandatory components of these statements.
Code général de normalisation comptable
To begin, let's establish the official definition and components of the financial statements according to Moroccan law. This reading from the CGNC will provide the formal framework.
Please read the section titled 'A - Finalités et nature des états de synthèse' on page 16. Focus on identifying the five documents that form this indivisible set of statements.
As you saw in the reading, the États de Synthèse are not just a Bilan and a CPC. They comprise five documents that form a single, inseparable whole:
- Le Bilan (BL): The Balance Sheet, showing the company's assets, liabilities, and equity at a specific point in time.
- Le Compte de Produits et Charges (CPC): The Income Statement, summarizing revenues and expenses over a period to determine the net result.
- L'État des Soldes de Gestion (ESG): The Statement of Management Balances, which breaks down how the net result was formed by calculating key indicators like Value Added and Gross Operating Surplus.
- Le Tableau de Financement (TF): The Cash Flow Statement, showing the flow of funds throughout the period.
- L'État des Informations Complémentaires (ETIC): The Statement of Complementary Information, which includes a series of detailed schedules and notes that support and clarify the figures in the other four statements.
The Liasse Fiscale is the complete package submitted to the tax authorities. It contains the full États de Synthèse plus additional declarations required for tax purposes. It is the final output of the entire annual accounting cycle.
2. Deconstructing a Real-World 'Liasse Fiscale'
Theory is one thing, but seeing the real document is essential. We will now explore an actual Liasse Fiscale submitted by the Jardin Zoologique National de Rabat. This is a comprehensive document, and our goal is not to analyze every number but to identify the key components and understand their roles.
This document is organized into a series of numbered tables (tableaux). Let's walk through the most important ones.
Liasse Fiscale - Jardin Zoologique de Rabat
We will now examine a real 'Liasse Fiscale'. We will use this document as a reference as we discuss each major component. You don't need to read it all at once; we will refer to specific parts as we go.
Open the document and have it ready. We will be navigating to different tables based on their official numbers.
Tableau n°1 & n°2: The Core Financial Statements
The first key components are the main financial statements you are already very familiar with from Module 4.

Tableau n°1: Le Bilan (The Balance Sheet)
- In the PDF (LINK), scroll to the pages titled
BILAN (ACTIF)andBILAN (PASSIF). These represent Tableau n°1. - You'll recognize the standard structure:
Actif Immobilisé,Actif Circulant, andTrésorerie-Actifon the asset side;Financement Permanent,Passif Circulant, andTrésorerie-Passifon the liability and equity side. This is the snapshot of the company's patrimony at year-end.

Tableau n°2: Le Compte de Produits et Charges (The Income Statement)
- Following the Bilan, you will find Tableau n°2, the
COMPTE DE PRODUITS ET CHARGES (Hors taxes). - This table presents the company's performance, breaking it down into
PRODUITS D'EXPLOITATION,CHARGES D'EXPLOITATION, and financial and non-current items to arrive at theRESULTAT NET DE L'EXERCICE.
- Following the Bilan, you will find Tableau n°2, the
Tableau n°3: The Bridge Between Accounting and Tax
This is arguably the most critical table from a tax perspective and directly relates to our previous lesson on deferred tax. Tableau n°3 details the Passage du Résultat Net Comptable au Résultat Net Fiscal.
This table starts with the accounting net profit (from Tableau n°2) and applies a series of adjustments to arrive at the taxable profit, upon which the corporate income tax is calculated.
To better understand this crucial step, let's look at a clearer, more didactic example.

Now, locate Tableau n°3 in the Rabat Zoo's Liasse Fiscale. You will see the same structure in action, listing the specific reintegrations and deductions for that company. This table is the practical application of identifying permanent and temporary differences.
The 'ETIC': Supporting Schedules
Most of the remaining tables in the Liasse Fiscale constitute the ETIC (Statement of Complementary Information). They provide the granular detail behind the summary figures in the Bilan and CPC. Let's highlight a few key examples.
-
Tableau n°4 & n°8: Fixed Assets and Depreciation
- Tableau n°4 (
TABLEAU DES IMMOBILISATIONS) shows the movement in fixed assets during the year (acquisitions, disposals). - Tableau n°8 (
TABLEAU DES AMORTISSEMENTS) details the depreciation calculation for each asset class, showing the opening balance, the depreciation charge for the year (Dotations de l'exercice), and the closing balance. This schedule directly supports the depreciation expense in the CPC and the net asset values in the Bilan.
- Tableau n°4 (
-
Tableau n°9: Provisions
- This table (
TABLEAU DES PROVISIONS) tracks the movement in all provisions (for risks, charges, asset depreciation), which is another source of temporary differences between accounting and tax treatment.
- This table (
-
Tableau n°12: Value Added Tax (VAT)
- This schedule (
DETAIL DE LA TAXE SUR LA VALEUR AJOUTEE) provides a detailed breakdown of collected and deductible VAT, reconciling to the net VAT payable or credit for the period.
- This schedule (
Test your understanding!
An external auditor is reviewing your company's draft Liasse Fiscale. They see a large amount for "Dotations d'exploitation" in the CPC (Tableau n°2). Which table in the ETIC would they immediately look at to find a detailed breakdown of this amount?
Show answer
They would primarily look at Tableau n°8: Tableau des Amortissements and Tableau n°9: Tableau des Provisions. The "Dotations d'exploitation" (Operating provisions and depreciation) in the income statement is a summary figure, with the detailed calculations for depreciation and provisions for assets shown in these supporting schedules.
3. The Assembly Process in Practice
Assembling the Liasse Fiscale is a methodical process that happens at the end of the accounting year. While the concept involves "assembling" these documents, in modern practice, this is largely managed by accounting software.

This visual demonstrates several key points:
- Integration: The software automatically links the tables. Data from the depreciation schedule (Tableau n°16 in this version, similar in function to Tableau n°8 in our other example) feeds into the Bilan and CPC.
- Systematic Approach: The accountant works through the schedules systematically, ensuring all balances are reconciled and all required information is provided.
- The Accountant's Role: The software automates the presentation, but it does not replace the accountant's judgment. It is your responsibility to ensure the underlying data is accurate, the accounting policies are correctly applied, and the fiscal adjustments in Tableau n°3 are justified and compliant with tax law.
The final package, whether printed or submitted electronically via the DGI's SIMPL portal, represents the company's official financial and fiscal declaration for the year.
Conclusion
You have now seen how the various strands of the accounting process are woven together into the final tapestry of the Liasse Fiscale. It is more than just a set of forms; it is the definitive statement of a company's financial story for the year, told in the official language of Moroccan accounting and tax law.
Key Takeaways:
- The Liasse Fiscale is the complete annual package submitted to Moroccan tax authorities.
- Its foundation is the États de Synthèse: Bilan (T1), CPC (T2), ESG (T5), TF, and the ETIC.
- The ETIC is composed of numerous supporting schedules (T4, T8, T9, T12, etc.) that provide detail for the Bilan and CPC.
- Tableau n°3 is a critical bridge, reconciling accounting profit to taxable profit, and is where adjustments for temporary differences (deferred tax) are formally presented.
- Modern accounting software automates the assembly, but the accountant's role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the underlying data is paramount.
Preview of the Next Lesson:
With this module, we have completed our deep dive into advanced financial reporting for external compliance. In our next lesson, we will pivot to a different audience. You will learn how to prepare a concise management report in French summarizing monthly financial performance for a non-accounting audience. This will shift our focus from rigid compliance to clear, actionable communication for internal decision-makers.
